Beside the usual features common to most non-metallurgical rolls , paper mills rolls are made in special ally categories in different hardness range between 65’-75’ shore as suitable. Since most such rolls are usually subjected to high RPM , they are very accurately dynamically balanced. Paper mill rolls have anit-slip surface and can be supplied as ‘Cambered’. Concentricity, Roundness and other dimensions in such are maintained to very low & precise tolerances. These rolls are highly wear  resistant with a tough shell having less tendency for banding’ better biting properties apart from , greater strength to thermal shock and fracture toughness. The shell material consists of bainite, martensite and precipitated carbides. The Core is either Gray iron with flake graphite or nodular iron on a pearlitic matrix depending upon the core strength requirement.
